Her support for polygamy was not theological, but based on libertarian principles and a belief in civil religious toleration.
“Like most Americans, however, I do place enormous value on religious freedom, and so I hope that other Americans will be afforded the same freedoms that I am given. To that end, if plural marriage is a central part of another person’s traditions, and if they want to practice plural marriage within the boundaries of their own faith and the limits of the law, then I have no opposition to that.”
I never ponder why I left TEC, but if I did, this would be a good place to start. I hope her bishop issues her a Godly admonishment. BTW all those people who say supporting homosexual marriage won’t undermine Christian marriage remain WRONG; and here’s a pretty good example.
Also, I know she said she doesn’t support plural marriage because it violates the C&C of TEC; but that’s how this whole downward slide in TEC started in the first place. When it is a matter of some idiot bishop’s “conscience” he goes ahead and does it anyway and rather than the HoB disciplining him, they then all start doing the “new thing”. After awhile, they make it part of the C&C, and eventually persecute those who, both lay and clergy, who think differently.

This is an unfair position to put her in, not to speak of the hundreds of faithful Christians of polyamorous orientation. There must be a pastorally appropriate local option.
